Laurie Rubell
In many of my single canvas paintings, space is divided by large expanses of color and light that separate/divide the canvas. Light illuminates the color, alighting the dark.
In my Diptychs/Triptychs this divide becomes physical, creating separate canvases. The expanses of color intersect in a merge of organic opposites: land/sky, night/day, dawn/twilight, ocean/sky, Autumn/Spring.
All of my paintings, unless noted, are oil on canvas, signed and dated onthe reverse.
