Darko Topalski - Biography
Born in Novi Sad, Serbia, May 21. 1976. Showed interests in drawing, painting and photography from very early stage which are persistently developed. Putting aside the formal education so as not to restrict himself, he attended courses, workshops and worked with other artists. His works are part of numerous private collections.
Topalski has concentrated his artistic achievement working with different mediums being in a constant quest for further development of his painting and drawing skills. Themes of his paintings are landscapes, esoteric and metaphysical questions, signs… Viewing Art as the universal language that can communicate for itself, his painting techniques are aimed to search the answers.
“For me Art is the simplest and purest way of communication. Emotions, fears, moods, ideas…all that can be found in a work of art. While working, I completely surrender to it because the work of art asks for total submission. In my case, the creation of a new painting is a process that takes from several hours to months. It comes as a new and exciting project that should possess a concrete message, purpose and energy. Each new work emerges as a shaped and materialized part of my spirit that continues to live a life of its own. I prefer the work to speak for itself, letting others to sense and express their own feelings. Only when I feel that this scope has been reached, I know that the work is done. Thus it crosses the boundaries of present, taking me closer to eternity. The work of Art stands not as a part of our time, but as a herald of the present for the future.”
