Born in 1960 in Switzerland I was raised educated and trained in the German speaking part of the country. In 1981 I entered into skill training with Fischer Naturstein to learn the trade of a stone carver. Over a period of seven years I apprenticed on numerous projects including: outdoor sculpture, architectural carving for heritage buildings, letter carving, installing stone products for the construction marked and the fabrication of outdoor fountains.
I developed conceptual as well as technical skills during that time. Access to contemporary and classical literature pertaining to art provided me with further knowledge. Submissions for artist calls and the participation in art competitions were the venues in which I explored art. Ranking 3rd with my team members in the 1988 Snow Sculpting World Championship in Savonlinna, Finland presents the most notable event I participated in outside the apprenticeship program.
I immigrated to Canada in 1988 where I continue to sculpt. Over these past years I have executed and produced the following body of work.
