Clara Bierman Growing up on a farm in rural Ontario, and having lived in British Columbia, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island, Clara has had the opportunity to enjoy nature all across Canada. For her, the road to being an artist has taken many turns. After a few years of nursing and raising a family, she enrolled in the art program at Calvin College (Grand Rapids, M.I.) and later at Fanshawe College in Ontario. While continuing to work in the health field, she had her first solo exhibition in Smithers, B.C. in 1987, and has done numerous commissioned works. She currently resides in Charlottetown, P.E.I., and works full time in her Studio. Her art is displayed at the Mermaid Art Gallery (Mermaid, P.E.I.) as well as the Ellen’s Creek Gallery (Charlottetown, P.E.I.).
“The beauty of Creation, in all its forms, has inspired me from early childhood. I have a passion for life, nature, and people. I also have a passion to create. The paintbrush is my tool to express my feelings. I draw as I paint - not with line, but with colour. My goal is to fulfill whatever potential I have and to tell a story about what is on my mind. Things change so quickly that are forgotten unless re-told through literature, music, or visual arts – which is my way to express my feelings."
