Collette Broeders is a passionate mixed media artist merging traditional processes with new media. She has been exhibiting nationally and internationally in both solo and group exhibitions. In the 80’s she attended St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology followed by theUniversityofWindsorfor business studies and worked in accounting and database development for several years. By 2004, Broeders returned to theUniversityofWindsorwhere she completed the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. Her studies focused on printmaking and investigated the digital realm where she combined both of these mediums. She is an active member of the arts community and maintains a studio inOldcastle,Ontario,Canada.
Her art negotiates margins of abstraction and uses indexical gestures of personal histories to integrate universal themes involving identity, culture and memory. She continues to reincarnate objects and recollections of her childhood into her work, often engaging the viewer into narratives and fragments of ones own identity and memory.
