Maria Cabrera-Macias was born in1956 inCaracas,Venezuela. Daughter of Spanish parents,
she was influenced by theNew World education and culture, while being raised under European
values and traditions.
At the age of 17, she moved toSpainin order to attendMedicalSchoolat La Universidad de
la Laguna,Tenerife. While studying medicine, she received private art classes,
studied from books by master painters, went to famous Art Museums, and attended
workshops inEurope.
During the early 80's, Maria moved toDominican Republicwhere she received her M.D. diploma
in 1982. Meanwhile, she was able to experiment with different techniques, and admire the works of
Old andNew Worldartists. It is from these personal experiences that she began to adopt her own style.
In the mid 80's, she moved again, this time to theUnited States, where she came in contact with
American artists and admired the works of early American Masters.
During the mid 90's, she joined the Miami Art Club where she observed the techniques of artists
such as Manuel Canovaca and Frank Ebra. Later she became inspired by the works of Master
William Vega, and cultivated her own style as a subtle mix of realism and impressionism.
Her work is admired in private collections both in Europe andAmerica. She continues to refine
it throughout her dedication to Art.
